Welcome to Auslan Mind Body

Emma and Karla are the sister duo behind Auslan Mind Body, founded in July 2023. As Codas (Children of Deaf Adults), inclusivity and accessibility have always been central to their lives, and they’ve carried this into their shared vision: creating a wellbeing space where everyone feels welcome, seen, and supported.

Together, they embody a natural balance — Emma with her dynamic, energising Pilates and cardio focus, and Karla with her calming passion for yoga, yin, and breathwork. Known as the “Yin and Yang Sisters,” they combine strength and stillness, movement and mindfulness, with a good dose of humour in every program they offer.

In 2025, they launched their long-awaited online program designed specifically for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, making it possible for people to access wellbeing practices anytime, anywhere. The Auslan Mind Body online program focuses on Pilates, Yoga, Stretching, Breathwork and reflective practices while also offering mental health and wellbeing workshops to support the whole person - mind, body, and spirit.

Both mothers of two young children, Emma and Karla understand firsthand how tricky it can be to integrate movement, rest and collective care into their routine. Their mission is to make wellbeing accessible, meaningful and sustainable for everyone.

About Karla

Karla brings a calm and compassionate approach to wellbeing, blending her background in counselling with the mindful practices of Pilates and Yin Yoga.

Her sessions focus on nervous system awareness, self-compassion, and reconnecting to the body’s natural rhythm.

With a trauma-informed and body-based approach, Karla helps people move from stress and self-criticism toward safety, softness, and presence.

Karla creates space for Deaf people to access wellbeing in a way that feels inclusive, grounded, and real - supporting emotional and physical regulation through simple, daily practices.

About Emma

Emma is known for her warm energy, creative sequencing, and love of making movement fun and accessible for everyone. Not to mention the very organised one!

As a Pilates and Barre instructor (also known as the 'Theraband Queen'), Emma brings strength, playfulness, and rhythm into every class.

She believes movement is a way to reconnect with joy, confidence, and self-awareness - not just exercise, but a form of care.

Emma helps people find balance between energy and rest, strength and softness - all while having a good laugh along the way.
